This chardonnay driven champagne has classic brioche up front but lifts so much on the finish it just lasts and lasts.  First time we’ve tasted this wine and it’s an instant classic for us

Our first thought when we tasted this wine was wow. Stein means stone and refers to the gneiss rocks found throughout the vineyard. Stunning and expressive with the length of a white burgundy.

Historically the most important producer of Chenin Blanc this is a classic example taking the soft richness of the grape and adding mineral intensity

Only 1800 bottles made this wine tastes like white burgundy until the long finish which shows its Sicilian heritage through the Carricante grape.

Chablis has come a long way and this gorgeous producer is making classic flinty driving wines.

2018 Domaine d’Henri Chardonnay Fourchaume 1er Cru Chablis, France $100

A newer Chablis producer on the scene but from an old family in the region.  This wine is clean and precise and bold with 18 months on its lees and using nitrogen to mitigate sulfur use for those of you that watch such things.

2019 Sarazinière Macon Bussieres Le Pavillon Chardonnay France $52

All honeydew melons light and fresh and very pretty

2020 Tyler Chardonnay Santa Barbara $15/60

One of the great young producers in America Justin always crafts a beautiful wine that makes us happy whether in the mood for buttery or mineral driven this should do the trick

2019 Sandhi Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills $72

The legendary Rajat parr and Sashi Mooreman are making some of our favorite wines in Santa Barbara.  This is always a delicious bottling, leaning towards the French style but a little lusher than they can ever get.

2020 Matthiasson Chardonnay Linda Vista Napa $75

From one of our best wine grape farmers comes this offering literally grown in his backyard.  bright apples and honeyed richness

2017 Peay Estate Chardonnay Sonoma Coast $120

One of our favorite producers in America the Chardonnays are long and rich in style and perfectly balanced.  They are very good friends of ours and offered us a beautiful wine with a few extra years of aging on it!

2019 Remoissenet Chardonnay Montagne Saint-Desire Beaune, France $150

Contiguous with the very special Clos des Mouches vineyard, this wine is always a standout for Remoissenet showing a striking clarity and purity to its lusher mineral driven style.

2018 Jean-Claude Ramonet Boudriotte 1er cru Chassagne Montrachet, France $400

Another stunning, incredibly balanced, cellar worthy standout with a finish for days. Boudriotte is known for producing softer, more delicate wines.


2020 Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio Ramato Friuli Venezia Giulia Italy $54

Move over orange wine and rosé, here comes ramato. Made exclusively from pinot grigio, this delightful ramato is incredibly balanced with light floral tones.

An expressive orange wine that’s unctuous, savory, and a bit funky.

2020 Sauvette Gamay Les Gravouilles France $12/48

The grape of Beaujolais but grown in the Loire Valley.  We chose this wine because there is a little smokiness and sanguine complexity to the bright berries of the Gamay grape making it a no brainer for our food.

2020 Serol Gamay Eclat de Granite Côte Roannaise, France $48

Wait another one?  Yes we did, two Loire Valley takes on the Gamay grape, this one having more richness fuller body then the Sauvette.

2020 Sunier Gamay Morgon Beaujolais, France $81

A classic producer showing the pedigree of Morgon, perhaps the best village in Beaujolais?  Thick dark cherry, but also check out the label where the artwork shows their tasting notes!

2021 Martha Stoumen ‘Post Flirtation Red’ Zinfandel/Carignan Mendocino $60

Made with a gentle hand but still crunchy and fun, she says its designed to be served in little red cups!  We prefer it in a glass but agree its light and yummy!

2021 Sulauze ‘Cochon’ GSM blend France $52

We absolutely love this Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre blend. Easy drinking and lovely chilled. One of our favorite natural wines.

2019 Pierre Labet Pinot Noir Burgundy, France $70

A beautiful pinot noir with balance and finesse. We would expect nothing less from this producer.

2020 Esmonin Pinot Noir Hautes Cotes de Beaune Burgundy, France  $20/80

A classic producer that makes edgier black crisp wines, this one shows the ripeness of the vintage but still balanced with earth.

2019 Michel Gros Pinot Noir Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits Burgundy, France $81

Produced in Arcenant, a small village west of Nuits- Saint-Georges. Dark cherries and wet black earth with a touch of grip, Pinot Noir getting bigger.

2018 Charlopin Tissier Pinot Noir Le Chapitre Burgundy,  France $123

We are obsessed with this producer who trained under the legendary Fourrier.  Rich fruit perfectly balanced with an amazing, polished texture. 

2018 Ballot Millot Pinot Noir Pommard Pezerolles 1er cru Burgundy, France $205

A classic producer and one of the greatest vineyards in Burgundy combined with a ripe vintage.  Sounds like a perfect combination to me!

2017 Lécheneaut Pinot Noir Clos de Ormes Morey-St-Denis Burgundy, France $285

A beautifully expressive Pinot Noir that effortlessly balances finesse and power.

2018 La Combe Grisard Pinot Noir Gevrey Chambertin Burgundy, France $201

The Railsback brothers work with Jeremy Sesses from Domaine Dujac to craft this beautiful Gevrey bottling showing the candied black cherry and robust full flavors we know and love.

2019 Littorai Pinot Noir Les Larmes Anderson Valley $135

Another elegant Pinot Noir from Ted Lemon, who’s considered one of CA’s most highly respected winemakers. Les Larmes is a blend from exceptional sites worthy of their own designation from Anderson Valley and Sonoma Coast.

2020 Littorai Pinot Noir Les Larmes Anderson Valley $140

If you love red Burgundy, you’ll love this. Layers of bright red fruits and oh so incredibly balanced. Ted Lemon does it again.

2020 Littorai Pinot Noir Wendling ‘Block E’ Anderson Valley $225

A truly stunning wine from the sought-after Block E vineyard. Beautifully balanced with a lingering finish. If you’re looking for a showstopper, here it is.

2019 Peay Pinot Noir Savoy Anderson Valley $149

The Peay family makes gorgeous wines.  This one happens to come from the Savoy vineyard, but their estate wines are every bit as delicious.  The Savoy wines tend to be a little darker and more intense and darker berry driven than the estate wines.

2019 Hirsch Pinot Noir Bohan Dillon Sonoma Coast $105

The pioneer of the Sonoma coast wine appellation this bottling is big and bold and dark and brooding.

Medium bodied

2019 Cusumano Benuara Nero d’avola Sicily, Italy $50

This Nero D’avola is blended with some Syrah lending depth and balancing the pronounced dark cherry and plum notes on the palate. We also get hints of leather and spice. Super delicious but if you take time with it there are many layers to unfold.

2001 Tour Grise Cabernet Franc Saumur Loire Valley,

France $54

You will never guess this wine is over 20 years old!  It’s tart and fresh and bright with a little leafy green herb, not for everyone but if you enjoy old wines, you will love this!

2015 Petit St Vincent Cabernet Franc Les Poyeaux Saumur Champigny Loire Valley, France $90

Dark heavy plums with smoked meat and herbs this is from the most important red wine vineyard in the entire Loire Valley

2019 Rimbert Saint Chinian Carignane/Syrah Les Travers de Marceau Languedoc, France $40

The blend is about 40% Carignagne and 40% Syrah with a little Mourvèdre and Cinsault blended in.  The result is a spicy cote du Rhone style wine with rustic berries and a rich palate

2019 Railsback Grenache Syrah ‘Rouge’ California $72

Two brothers in the wine industry, Eric and Lyle.  Started making their own wines a few years ago and the quality is going through the roof!  This bottling is thick and spicy and rustic and great with our food.

2014 Mossik Syrah Napa $78

Not your average California Syrah here, this wine is a dead ringer for northern rhone!  Its rustic and earthy and unfiltered so you are likely to find tartrates floating around…dont be scared they’re yummy to!

2018 Skylark Syrah/Carignane/Grenache Red Belly

Mendocino $48

The sommeliers at Boulevard make wines and they are delicious!  This is their ode to the Southern Rhone, fruit forward but balanced and delicious sort of our version of Chateauneuf du pape.

2019 Minus Tide Syrah Valenti Mendocino Ridge $72

Another tremendous effort from this new local wine label.  This wine reminds us of the ones made by Thierry Allemand.

2019 Fine Disregard Syrah Haynes Napa $96

Thick and unctuous this is a dark chocolate beauty laced with lavender.   Mike is the assistant winemaker at Turley Cellars and Kara is the director of viticulture at Foley Family Farms, this is their own project and its consistently great.

Full Bodied Reds

2017 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino Italy $175

Natalie Oliver’s owns La Fiorita and has proven herself to be a serious winemaker. This wine is flawless, lush but restrained. 

2020 Bedrock Zinfandel Heritage Vineyard $64

Coplanted with Mataro and Carignan this historic vineyard is a California jewel made by two of the nicest and best winemakers in the game.

2017 Giovanni Rosso Serralunga Barolo $145

Serralunga is a village within Barolo known for producing extremely elegant and complex Nebbiolos, and this is no exception. Powerful, yet refined. What a gem.

2018 Caparsa ‘Mimma’ Sangiovese Tuscany, Italy $150

This is the first release of what we think might end up being among the greatest wines in Italy.  The wine is huge now but drinking beautifully, hopefully we can age some as well, but we’ll probably just keep drinking them all!  Only 1200 bottles made.

2021 Adelante Malbec Argentina $11/44

Old vine Malbec from Argentina showing its best here.  Blueberry and dark black round soft fruits.  If you like big wine, you are going to love this.

2017 Unturned Stone Spider’s Chase Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Coast $90

Quickly becoming one of our favorite Cabernets in America, this wine is grown in the land of pinot noir and chardonnay, but a small patch of vineyard gets warm enough to make this beautiful, elegant bottling.  Think Bordeaux but infinitely smoother. 

2020 Monte Rio Cellars Zinfandel/Petit Sirah/Mission ‘Skull Red’ California $45

Former sommelier Patrick Cappiello blends this wine that is equal parts fruit punch and punk rock.  Big bold inky tooth staining and easy to drink.

2019 Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon Napa $23/92

Plush with ripe dark plums and hints of spices on the finish. Balanced and easy drinking

2018 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Napa $200

Possibly the greatest Cabernet producer in America Cathy Corison’s wines age forever and drink beautifully right out of the gate.  You won’t find an out of balance oak bomb here, but you will find elegance from the Napa Valley that only Cathy can bring to bottle.

2007 Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Mountain $245

How about a great California Cabernet with some age you ask?  Here you go!  Always one of our favorites, this wine was uncharacteristically big on release but is relaxing into its stride now.  This is one of our favorite Cabernet producers in America, with the wines of the previous owner, Patrick Campbell, drinking amazing with age as few domestic Cabernets can.

Originally produced in Germany, this unique Canadian wine is made with naturally frozen grapes on the vines that yield very small amounts of concentrated nectar. The result: a delightfully luscious stone fruit and lychee driven Icewine that’s very easy drinking. Our favorite!

They hold back their wines till they think they are ready to drink and let us tell you, this one is ready!  Gorgeous tropical long elegant and luscious.

2011 Coutet Sauternes-Barsac, France $17/204

Coutet is an old French word for knife that perfectly describes this wine’s brightness and adding balance to the beautifully unctuous, vibrant late-harvest nectar

2017 d’Oliveira Monastrel Dulce Jumilla, Spain 500ml $10/60

Could be the world’s best wine with chocolate?  Soft and fruity red wine with sweetness, just magic.

Rare Wine Company Charleston Sercial Madeira $13/132

The driest of the noble grapes expect salted nuts and caramel.  Dry enough you could have this as an aperitif, or sip with cheese.

1973 d’Oliveira Verdelho Madeira $684

This vintage bottling is amazing.  Tropical fruits on the caramel backdrop that is madeira, this has always been one of our favorites.
